About Dean Merwin

Dr. Elizabeth Merwin is Dean and Professor at the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is also a Consulting Professor, Duke University.  She is an experienced nursing and health services researcher who over the last 25 years has established a research program that aims to improve the health and health status of underserved and vulnerable populations.  She consistently uses secondary data sets in her research and teaching and have extensive methodological expertise in designing and implementing research studies using large secondary health care databases for patient outcomes research. She is a methodological expert in the analysis of large secondary data sets and has conducted several workforce studies regarding the supply and demand for CRNAs.

Currently,  she is conducting a R01 study of the nation’s Medicare population on Reducing Health Disparities for SMI, Rural and Minorities which includes multiple, national large Medicare datasets and creates trajectories of care over a 14-year period of time.
