Reducing Health Disparities by Improving Access and Quality of Health Care
The National Institutes of Health recently awarded a grant of nearly 3 million dollars to Dr. Elizabeth Merwin and collaborator Dr. Emily Jean Hauenstein to conduct research in strategies to reduce health disparities for individuals under the age of 65 who are Medicare eligible due to disability or mental illness.

Throughout her career, Dr. Merwin has received grant funding from both the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Mental Health in the pursuit of rural health care practice, mental health services delivery, nursing workforce and economics, and improvement of health care service for rural communities and other under-served populations.
