Dr. Elizabeth Merwin has received a significant grant of almost 3 million from the NIH for research into the reduction of health disparity in the under 65 Medicare population of the physically disabled or those with serious mental illness. The 14 year study will examine self-care capacity, community capacity to support health, quality of available health care, and the intersecting effects of gender, race, and rurality in this population.
